Overview
CopyUnlock (the "Extension") is a Chrome browser extension published by PeakTools Publishing ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains our data practices — which can be summarized in one sentence:
Data Collection
CopyUnlock collects zero data. Specifically:
- No personal information is collected
- No usage analytics or telemetry
- No browsing history or activity tracking
- No cookies or tracking pixels
- No IP address logging
- No device fingerprinting
- No advertising identifiers
Local Data Storage
CopyUnlock stores configuration and preference data locally on your device only. This includes:
- Extension settings and preferences
- Feature toggle states
- Any cached data required for functionality
This data is stored using the browser's local storage APIs (IndexedDB and chrome.storage.local) and never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable Chrome Sync, in which case Chrome's built-in sync mechanism may sync your settings across your devices through your Google account.
Network Requests
CopyUnlock makes no network requests to any external servers, APIs, or endpoints. The Extension operates entirely offline after installation. The only network activity that may occur is:
- Chrome Web Store updates: Chrome automatically checks for extension updates through the Chrome Web Store.
- Chrome Sync: If you have Chrome Sync enabled, your extension settings may be synced through Google's infrastructure.
Permissions
CopyUnlock requests only the minimum permissions necessary for its core functionality:
- activeTab / tabs: Required to interact with the current web page.
- storage: Required to save your preferences locally.
- scripting: Required to inject content scripts for the Extension's features.
No permission is used for data collection, advertising, or any purpose other than providing the Extension's stated functionality.
Third-Party Services
CopyUnlock uses no third-party services, SDKs, libraries, or APIs that could collect user data. There are no analytics services, crash reporting, advertising networks, social media integrations, or external APIs.
Data Sharing
Since we collect no data, we have no data to share. We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer any information to third parties.
Children's Privacy
CopyUnlock does not collect any data from any user, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected, no special provisions for children's data are necessary.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Our core commitment to zero data collection will not change.
Your Rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations, you have rights regarding your personal data. Since CopyUnlock collects no personal data, these rights are automatically satisfied:
- Right to Access: There is no data to access.
- Right to Deletion: There is no data to delete. Uninstalling removes all local data.
- Right to Portability: There is no data to port.
- Right to Object: There is no processing to object to.
